Fall, 2024 INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED tying class

Location: Emerald Lake Village Clubhouse
Registration $30 total for all 4 classes
This class will move along at a somewhat accelerated rate. Therefore, all tyers considering this class should have some familiarity with general tying skills (whip finishing/half hitching, pinch wrap, use of dubbing, etc.), and have their own vise, tools, and materials. Jim plans to cover a range of fly patterns, materials, and fly tying techniques during the course, as listed below:
1st class September 30th
Foam back humpy
Sparkle Dun pupa
2nd class October 7th
Adams dry
AP Nymph
3rd class October 14th
Fresh water Clouser minnow
Flash Back pheasant tail nymph with legs
4th class October 21st
Articulated leach
Dubbing techniques using various tools, selecting hair for stacking and spinning…. As a bonus I will demonstrate tying a Muddler Minnow without spinning hair.
Note that we will be tying 2 flies each night. Recipes for each fly will be sent to you prior to the first class.Class is limited to the first 8 people who sign up via the website. Registration will will remain open until the class begins on September 30.

Your cost for this course will be $30.00/person (payable at the time of registration via the web site).
Time permitting, Jim will take a request at the end of each class to tie a pattern you want to learn, are having trouble with, or requires a technique you are interested in.
Note that he will be encouraging you to do "homework", as it will immediately improve your tying skills.
