2022 Introductory Fly Tying Course (4 Weeks): TUESDAY Nights – January 4, 11, 18, 25, 6:00 – 8:00 PM
This class will be led by Mark Utter and will focus exclusively on the basic skills and techniques necessary to tie fresh water flies, and as such is intended specifically for those people who have either NEVER tied a fly before or have made some attempts but not had any formal instruction. We will spend time (especially the first night) discussing topics like equipment selection (vises, scissors, etc.), materials selection, and more. We will focus on establishing fundamental skills that will help you tie many types of flies and different patterns.
You will receive a set of power point charts prior to the first class that will cover many of these topics, and serve as a reference for you in the weeks/months/years to come. If you don’t have your own tools and materials, we will provide them prior to the first class.
You will learn to tie the following flies:
Zebra Midge
Walt’s Worm
Emerger
Wooly Bugger
We will plan to hold the classes in person and via Zoom. The location for the class is TBD at this point.
Your cost for this course will be $30.00/person payable to GSF. You will sign up for the class and pay your class fee via the GSF web site at the following link:

I'll send out the materials list and Zoom calendar invitations to those people who successfully register for the class.
We have a limited number of club-owned tying vises and tools, so if you register and need gear, please email me ASAP at markdutter@outlook.com.
Note that I will be encouraging you to do "homework", as it will definitely improve your tying skills.
