PLEASE NOTE!!!!!!
The clinic location is ENCINITAS COMMUNITY PARK, NOT-NOT-NOT San Dieguito County Park.
The website, calendar, and automatic mailings have this wrong.
Please bring a 5 to 7 wt, 9 foot graphite rod or similar with a
matching floating weight forward line, and a 7.5 ft tapered 1x to 3x leader (ie., ending in
9-14 lb mono). A longer 9 foot plus leader in smaller X will not deliver your yarn fly effectively.
Tie on a small piece of highly visible orange or chartreuse yarn for a “fly”.
How big? Just big enough so that you can easily see it at 40 ft or so.
Also bring hat, sunscreen, snack, water, notebook, and chair as needed. Even though we will not be using flies with
hooks, please plan to wear glasses, sunglasses, or safety glasses - an errant fast moving fly line or leader can cause significant damage.
The venue (!Encinitas Community Park!) is visible from the freeway on the west side of I-5 between Birmingham and Santa Fe Drive (see the
attached maps). I will try to reserve a table near the skate park on the north end of the park. Look for fly rods. I will be there
at least 1/2 hour early.
Please arrive promptly with your rod rigged up and ready to go so that class can
start with a bang. Rigging after class begins will eat up valuable time. If you need yarn, etc, please arrive early.
On Sunday, please call my cell if you get lost or have questions.
I’m looking forward to meeting you and having some fun!
